The United States Geological Survey reported that throughout the United States in 2022, a total of 1,400 companies operating 3,585 quarries and 333 sales/distribution yards produced crushed stone and 3,360 companies operating 6,500 pits and 292 sales/distribution yards produced construction sand and gravel.
A total of 2.49 billion metric tons (Gt) of construction aggregates (construction sand and gravel plus crushed stone) were produced for consumption in the United States in 2022, valued at $32.7 billion.

In 2022, the combined production of the top 10 companies increased by 3% to 767 Mt (50% of the national total) from 747 million metric tons (Mt) in 2021. The combined production of the top 100 companies was 1.18 Gt (76% of the national total).

The combined production of the top 10 companies increased by 4% to 254 Mt (27% of the national total) compared with that in 2021. The combined production of the top 100 companies was 496 Mt (52% of the national total).
