Memphis Stone & Gravel Initiates MLK Days Of Service

Memphis Stone & Gravel team members were thwarted by inclement weather on Jan. 15, the date of its highly-anticipated 10th annual MLK Day of Service. While the winter forecast brought an added challenge to the day’s planning, its team did what they do best: adapt.

As such, this annual Day of Service tradition will be carried out as “Days of Service.” In short, employees plan on tackling service projects in neighboring communities in the days and weeks to come. As a show of dedication to the day’s vision, several crews began projects early with many kicking off the week of January 8.

A tradition adopted by Memphis Stone and Gravel and sister company Lehman-Roberts, this day originated to honor the legacy and resulting impact left by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This singular day carries immense weight of planning and impact to its neighbors in Memphis and North Mississippi – usually encompassing more than 40 individual projects in service to 12-15 local non-profits.

2024 partnerships will include Advance Memphis, Alcy Ball Development Corp., Alpha Omega Veterans Services, Baptist Children’s Village, Impact Ministries, Knowledge Quest, Memphis Athletic Ministries, Multinational Ministries, New Hope Christian Academy, Palmer Home for Children, STREETS Ministries, and the Boys and Girls Club of Grenada. New partnerships will include the Grace Place, located in Batesville, Miss.
