Carmeuse Operation Participates in Adopt-A-Highway

Anyone traveling along Highway M-134 in Cedarville, Mich., might notice that stretch of highway is particularly pristine and beautiful. That’s because a team of volunteers from Carmeuse’s Cedarville operation and Local USW 182 recently teamed up for their annual Adopt-A-Highway pick-up week.

“Participation from Cedarville and USW 182 was great and the teams enjoyed excellent weather for their work,” according to the company. “A great deal of trash was collected and that particular section of highway was significantly more beautiful when the volunteers were finished.”

More than 6,400 miles of Michigan highways are part of the Adopt-A-Highway program. Participants typically adopt both sides of a two-mile section of state highway roadside to clean up for at least a two-year period. Since 1990, Adopt-A-Highway local groups have collected over a million bags of trash.

Carmeuse North America offers lime and limestone products for diverse applications in steel manufacturing, power generation, road construction and land development, the building industry, water treatment, waste treatment, oil and gas drilling and chemical treatments. Carmeuse has 28 plants that supply and serve most of the United States and Eastern Canada.
