Aggregates Industries Hosts Barge Ride on Mississippi

The Aggregate Industries US (AIUS) team based in Eagan, Minn., recently hosted 180 guests for its annual Neighborhood Barge Ride on the Mississippi River. Guests enjoyed calm waters and beautiful scenery from the deck of the Calvin J. Stewart Towboat and barge, which transports aggregates on the river every day, according to the company.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to give back to the communities in which we operate,” said Guy Edwards, CEO of Aggregate Industries. “We appreciate the support we receive from our neighboring community and this annual, unique, family-friendly event is just one way we choose to extend our appreciation.”

Guests attending the event included neighbors, representatives of nonprofit organizations and elected officials who live in the area. AIUS employees also attended the event, volunteering their time to ensure an exciting and smooth journey for all visitors, many of whom had enjoyed the barge ride in years past. Other guests appreciated the opportunity to cruise the mighty Mississippi for the first time.

This year’s ride started on Lower Grey Cloud Island, at Aggregate Industries’ Nelson Sand and Gravel operation, and continued up to the Wakota Bridge before returning to the island.
