  • West Texas Intermediate crude for October delivery fell by 5 cents, or 0.09%, to $56.08 a barrel at press time. The October contract for global benchmark Brent crude rose 41 cents, or 1%, to $60.64 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.

  • Joel Schneyer, a managing director at Capstone Headwaters, analyzed frac sand financials and concluded that the industry is in slow recovery as mine closures are first steps toward supply rationalization.
  • The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is investigating a spill from a Jackson County Frac Sand mine that dumped around 400,000 gal. of mine waste into a tributary of the Trempealeau River. The Trempealeau River flows into the Mississippi River in between Winona and La Crosse. No aquatic life has been affected, and testing on the water is underway with the results expected in a few weeks, according to KWNO radio.
