May 24, 2019 – The Board of Directors of MDU Resources Group Inc. approved the formation of an Environmental and Sustainability Committee at the board level. “More focused oversight by the board over MDU Resources’ environmental and sustainability commitments emphasizes how important these efforts are to the overall company strategy and success,” said Dennis W. Johnson, chair of the board.

MDU Resources has been reporting on its environmental, social and governance commitments and results since 2008, and President and CEO David L. Goodin said the company has increased its efforts in the past year to incorporate ESG strategy into its business practices.

“Our Nominating and Governance Committee has long been focused on reviewing and adopting best practices for corporate governance. By creating the Environmental and Sustainability Committee, we will bring that same level of focus to our commitment to adopt operational policies and practices that use natural resources efficiently and minimize environmental impact, while providing a safe and healthy working environment,” Goodin said. “Good ESG practices help ensure we will continue Building a Strong America, and we soon will be refreshing our reporting efforts to reflect our commitment.”

MDU Resources’ new Environmental and Sustainability Committee will be chaired by Director Karen B. Fagg. The board of directors also declared that Director Edward A. Ryan will chair the Nominating and Governance Committee, Director David M. Sparby will chair the Audit Committee and Director John K. Wilson will chair the Compensation Committee.
