Young Leaders Head to Arizona

The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association’s (NSSGA) 2017 Young Leaders Annual Meeting will be held April 19-22, 2017, at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler, Ariz.

This year’s event will celebrate 25 years of developing future leaders. All Young Leaders alumni are invited to the Annual Meeting, regardless of age.

Speakers at the event will include:

Mark Helm, president, Dolese Bros. Co.

Mark Helm began his career with Dolese Bros. Co. on July 16, 2001. On Feb, 1, 2010, he was promoted to president. Helm also serves on the board of directors of Dolese as chairman of the board. In addition, he also serves on the board of directors for NSSGA and the Oklahoma Aggregates Association.

BillSandbrookWilliam J. Sandbrook, president and CEO, U.S. Concrete

William J. Sandbrook is a 1979 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in management, he spent 13 years in the U.S. Army. His first civilian job was joining Tilcon New York as vice president in 1992. He became president and CEO three years later. In 1996, Tilcon was acquired by Oldcastle Materials. Sandbrook held various executive positions with Oldcastle, before joining U.S. Concrete Inc., as president and CEO in August 2011.

Tom Hill was elected chairman of the board for Vulcan Materials in December 2015, after being named president and chief executive officer in July 2014. Hill has been with Vulcan for more than 25 years, serving in a variety of operations and general management assignments of increasing responsibility since first joining the company in 1979.

SteveTrussellSteve Trussell. executive director, Arizona Rock Products Association

Steve Trussell became the executive director of the Arizona Rock Products Association (ARPA) in 2007. He is responsible for the promotion and preservation of the sustainability of the rock and construction materials industry through active involvement in the community relations, regulatory, and political processes. For the last three years the association has worked on regulatory reform and transparency legislation that will prove to be of tremendous benefit to all business sectors.

AnneLloydAnne H. Lloyd, executive vice president and CFO, Martin Marietta Materials

Anne Lloyd joined Martin Marietta in 1998 as vice president and controller and was promoted to chief accounting officer in 1999. She has served as chief financial officer since June 2005. Before joining Martin Marietta, Lloyd was previously with Ernst & Young LLP for 14 years.

Sean K. McLanahan represents the company’s sixth generation of family ownership and management. As CEO, he has oversight of the Pennsylvania-based company’s global sales and business development, finance and risk, business operation groups and manufacturing and supply. With more than 400 employees across the United States and four continents, McLanahan is a leader in providing custom engineered solutions for materials-processing industries, including aggregates, mining, agriculture, energy, waste and recycling, and more.

ChrisWidenerChris Widener, author and motivational speaker

Chris Widener has been speaking professionally since 1988 and is an internationally recognized speaker, author and radio host. Chris speaks to groups all over the world on motivation and leadership. Also at the event, the group will once again present its Mark S. Walsh Award, sponsored by Rock Products. The award is named after Mark S. Walsh, an active member of the Young Leaders (YL) steering committee. He was an energetic and enthusiastic supporter of the mission, purpose and activities of the YL. In the two years that Walsh served on the steering committee he offered sage advice and unique insights on exactly what the focus and purpose of the YL should be for new young executives in the aggregates industry, like himself. Walsh passed away from leukemia in 1999.
