California to Suspend Tax on Diesel

June 29, 2022 – Word from the California Construction and Industrial Materials Association (CalCIMA) is that Gov. Gavin Newsom, Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) and Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) have reached an agreement for the 2022-2023 state budget. Within the agreement is a $17 billion inflation relief package and suspension of the state sales tax on diesel. Additionally, California is working toward combating climate change by “securing additional power-generating capacity for the summer, accelerating our clean energy future, expanding our ability to prepare for and respond to severe wildfires, extreme heat, and the continuing drought conditions that lie ahead.” The budget also covers agreements on key outstanding issues such as High-Speed Rail and a transportation funding package.
