Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is stirring unease in the oil and natural gas industry with his remarks about hydraulic fracturing, according to a report from The Hill. Trump supports fracking but said towns and states should be allowed to ban the drilling practice. That position is at odds with industry groups and congressional Republicans, who say the practice is safe and should be permitted nationwide.

The Industrial Minerals Association – North America (IMA-NA) Associate Member Section convened to hold the election of the new section chair and vice chair. IMA-NA is pleased to announce the new leadership for the Associate Member Section as Kevin Peterson with Vortex, as the new chairman and Nick Tupper with RGCX, as the vice chairman. Kevin succeeds Peter Causer with Volvo as chair of the Associate Member Section. Causer steps down after serving as chairman for the last two years.

Unimin Corp.’s Portage Facility in Columbia County, Wis., celebrated its entrance into Tier 1 of the Green Tier program, inviting neighboring residents, businesses and representatives of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to a neighborhood meeting, sharing environmental activities taking place at their Portage Facility and goals for future environmental endeavors.
