Aggregate Industries US, a Holcim Group company, announced that its Severn Asphalt facility received the Gold Achievement Award for exceptional commitment to recycling initiatives.
The Severn Asphalt facility, located in Severn, Md., significantly increased its asphalt recycling activities 81 percent between 2012 and 2013 earning recognition from the Anne Arundel County recycling committee.
Every year the Anne Arundel County challenges local businesses to recycle 50 percent of everything thrown away.
This award acknowledges those organizations dedicated to significantly reducing waste and increasing recycling enterprises within the communities they serve.
“Sustainability and protecting the environment is at the forefront of Aggregate Industries’ core values,” said Guy Edwards, chief operating officer of Aggregate Industries US. “This is not only a corporate value but one that each of our facilities abides by. We’re extremely proud that our Severn facility was able to increase its recycling capabilities by such a large margin. We encourage all of our facilities to increase their sustainability efforts 365 days a year.”
