Mellott to Expand Used-Equipment Segment

The Mellott Co. has hired Tim Smyth to manage its used-equipment segment, the company said. Smyth will be responsible for further expanding Mellott Co.’s used-equipment business and Certified Rebuild program. Smyth and his team will also be in charge of sourcing used crushing and screening equipment to rebuild and refurbish for worldwide distribution.

“Our goal is to further enhance the Mellott Co. brand as we continue to increase our market share and expand this new business unit,” said Richard Blake, president. “In today’s economic climate, our customers demand more options, so it’s simple: offer a trade-in of their existing rock crusher for new, or rebuilt, or factory re-certified, or, finally, purchase an in-stock factory rebuilt/re-certified unit – crushers or screens,” said Blake.

Smyth brings more than 40 years of crushing and screening experience and he has wide range of management experience, which including operations, service and sourcing.

“His global industry experience and knowledge will prove invaluable to our customers, associates and management. Tim spent the last five years working in China, and other global locations, for Metso Minerals Mining Division,” said Blake.

Smyth will report to Ramesh Patel, executive vice president and chief operating officer, and his office will be located on the corporate campus located in Warfordsburg, Pa.
