Following an extensive search, National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) President and CEO Michael Johnson announced that Ashley A. Amidon has been named director of Government Affairs, effective Jan. 2, 2014.
Amidon comes to NSSGA from the International Wood Products Association, where she had been serving as manager, Government and Public Affairs since 2011. She joins NSSGA’s Government Affairs Division, led by Pam Whitted, senior vice president of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs.
“Ashley brings outstanding skills and experience to NSSGA and will play a leadership role in winning passage of a long-term highway bill, finding a sustainable funding solution for the Highway Trust Fund and working for responsible regulatory policy,” said Johnson. “Ashley’s record of driving results for members of IWPA made her the obvious choice for the members of NSSGA.”
At IWPA, Amidon was a registered lobbyist and handled PAC fundraising, as well as ran an active coalition of 20 trade associations and provided comments to Federal Register notices. Before joining IWPA, she was a fundraising associate at Hammond & Associates, a fundraising firm responsible for Republican members of Congress. Prior to that, Amidon was a fundraiser for the Republican National Committee.
Amidon earned a master’s degree in International Affairs at the University of Hull, Yorkshire, U.K., and a bachelor’s in International Politics and History, George Mason University, Fairfax, Va.
