Luck Companies Sells Retail Stone Centers

Luck Companies announced it has sold five Luck Stone Center retail locations and closed two more, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Four different buyers will acquire the company’s stone yards and fabrication centers.

  • The Luck Stone Center in Charlottesville, Va., has been acquired by Frederick Block, Brick & Stone, a third-generation, family-run business based in the Winchester area that distributes masonry and hardscape products for residential and commercial markets.
  • New Jersey-based Kildare Enterprises, a full-service quarry operator, fabricator, wholesaler and retailer of natural stone products, bought three Luck Stone Center retail operations. One of those, in Charlotte, N.C., will now operate as Stone Center of the Carolinas, while stone yards in Dulles and Leesburg in Loudoun County will operate as Stone Center of Northern Virginia.
  • Luck Stone Center’s workshop in Leesburg was purchased separately and is under new ownership as Terra Stoneworks, the company said.
  • The Luck Stone Center in Raleigh, N.C., has been acquired by its former manager, Tucker Thorpe. It is now operating as Southern Stone Supply.
Financial terms of the sales were not disclosed.

The company previously closed its stone center location next to its corporate headquarters in Goochland, Va., and one in Baltimore. The company announced in May that it had sold its clay tennis court business – Charlottesville-based Har-Tru Sports – to Richmond-based investment firm Tuckahoe Holdings.

Luck Companies emphasized it is selling some of its business units to focus on its core business of operating quarries throughout the Mid-Atlantic.
