Vulcan Materials Releases its Latest Sustainability Report

Vulcan Materials Co. has released its 2023 Sustainability Report.

The report focuses on the progress made in key areas of the business, including:

  • People.
  • Health & Safety.
  • Environmental Stewardship.
  • Neighbors & Community.
  • Governance.

By doing the right thing, the right way, at the right time, we are growing sustainably. Our employees are taking care of one another, putting the safety and health of our workforce above all else, stewarding resources and managing our environmental impacts and being good neighbors and forces for good in our communities.”

Business highlights featured in the report include:

  • Achieved a Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) reportable rate that is better than the industry average.
  • Electricity from renewable sources accounted for 12% of Vulcan’s total electricity use in 2023, up from 5.3% in 2022.
  • Led stewardship and conservation initiatives on our approximately 300,000 acres of owned and leased land.
  • Launched a three-pronged employee engagement effort through the Vulcan Hub to support information sharing, exit surveys, and onboarding surveys.
  • Actively supported the community through emergency preparedness, education, product donations, outreach events, certification & training programs, and disaster response.
