The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association held its annual Young Leaders (YL) Meeting in a virtual format this week. Nearly 40% of this year’s attendees were first-timers.
Originally scheduled to take place in Naples, Fla., the “virtually reimagined” event was held over Zoom. The event kicked off with a First-Timers Orientation and Happy Hour networking session on August 3.
The three-day event included presentations by Darin Matson, president and CEO of Rogers Group Inc. and NSSGA chairman; Angie Noel, leadership coach and author of “Leadership – Love It or Leave It”; and Tarun Nimmagadda, co-founder and CEO, and Kyle Kinsel, founder and chairman of Ruckit Inc.
Additionally, a “NSSGA Committee Involvement Panel” provided a glimpse at the different association committees – what they do, why their work is important to the industry and members’ businesses, and how attendees could join.
The virtual event concluded with a gavel exchange from 2019-2020 YL Chair Rick Everist, vice president, Midwest division, L.G. Everist Inc. to Rocky Torgrimson, Arizona aggregates manager, CalPortland.
The 2021 YL Annual Meeting will be held April 26-30 in Denver.
