Urge Your Governor to Classify the Aggregates Industry as Essential

RR031820 coronavirus

March 26, 2020 – The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) is urging NSSGA members and all aggregates producers to contact local, state and federal leaders to let them know that the aggregate and construction industries must be designated as essential industries to ensure vital public works projects continue; materials can reach those who need them most; and vertical structures can be built to help those most impacted by COVID-19.

The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic have dramatically changed our public health, national economy and daily lives. The construction industry must maintain normal operations if our nation is to remain economically competitive and withstand financial fallout due to the COVID-19 pandemic!

“Partnering with the American Concrete Pavement Association, National Asphalt Pavement Association, National Ready Mixed Concrete Association and Portland Cement Association, we need your help,” the association said. “Write your governor now and urge his or her support to classify the construction industry as an essential industry. Any suspension to our workforce due to quarantine or ‘shelter in place’ orders means thousands of other workers and businesses cannot fulfill their objectives, which will compound the financial impacts we are all currently experiencing.”
