January 20, 2014 – Congratulations goes out to the Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers (IAAP). The association’s Safety Committee announced to everyone working in the aggregates industry in Illinois that they have achieved another fatality free year. That’s 10 years in a row “working together to ensure Illinois is one of the safest places to be a miner,” said Shawn McKinney, outreach manager. As in previous years, the Safety Committee will celebrate this achievement by holding a hardhat sticker design contest with a $250 cash prize to this year’s winner. The IAAP’s 46th Annual Convention is scheduled for April 10, 2014, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield, Ill. This event will feature a series of educational seminars focusing on topics of interest to aggregate producers and to the companies selling goods and services to the mining industry.
