Seven months after taking action to strengthen enforcement efforts regarding delinquent fines and mine violations, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) announced that 49 mine operators have either taken steps to enter into payment agreements or satisfied their delinquent debts, resulting in $5.2 million in recovered fines.

Aggregates Operations Honored With Sentinels of Safety Award
The National Mining Association (NMA), the U.S. National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) and Bureau of Land Management (BLM), honored outstanding achievements in mine safety, environmental stewardship and technology. The awards ceremonies took place on Sept. 27, in Washington, D.C.
