Lake Carriers’ Association (LCA) reports that shipments of Great Lakes limestone totaled 2,114,432 net tons in April, an increase of 69% compared to a year ago. Loadings surpassed the month’s five-year average by 38%.

Great Lakes Limestone Trade Down 6 Percent in November
Shipments of limestone on the Great Lakes totaled 2.8 million tons in November, a decrease of 6 percent compared to a year ago, according to the Lake Carriers’ Association. However, limestone cargos were just about on track with the month’s five-year average.

The coldest April since 1997 put a chill on the Great Lakes limestone trade. Shipments totaled just 1,254,226 net tons, a decrease of 23 percent compared to a year ago, according to the Lake Carriers’ Association. Loadings trailed the month’s five-year average by even more – 33.3 percent.
