May 27, 2025 – May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Marty Ozinga, CEO at Ozinga, wrote a tremendous commentary on LinkedIn:
“May is Mental Health Awareness Month – a reminder that struggles aren’t signs of weakness; they’re part of being human.
“Pain, loneliness, temptation, anxiety, exhaustion… we all face them in different forms. And when we do, we have choices.
“Some coping mechanisms offer quick relief but leave damage in their wake—personally or relationally. Others are constructive. They build strength, deepen connection, and help us heal.
“One option: resist the impulse to react. Wait. Breathe. Let the storm pass.
“Another: share the burden, with a friend, a mentor, a counselor, a therapist —someone you trust. You don’t have to carry it alone.
“When we speak the struggle and take it out of the shadows, it loses its power over us. But not only that – it can encourage someone else who’s silently walking through the same valley.
“Our “weakness” can become a superpower when it leads to hope and healing for others.
” A business – or any organization – is more than just a place to work. It’s a community of people, a place where we not only get things done – but grow, support, and show up for one another. It’s a place where we can make space for both the work and the human experience that comes with it.
Everyone is carrying something – even those who appear like they have it all together.
“You’re not alone in your struggles. And neither are the people around you.”
