The Michigan Aggregates Association announced Sky Cheney as its new chairman of the board at the association’s annual Winter Conference at Firekeepers Casino in Battle Creek, Mich.

Cheney is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio and the Michigan State University Eli Broad School of Business. After graduation, Cheney began his career in 1991 as vice president of Cheney Limestone before taking over as president in 2012. Family owned since 1946, Cheney Limestone has been a pioneer in Michigan with agriculture lime and stone.
Cheney previously was the vice chair of the MAA board. He will serve a two-year term.
Cheney replaces Mark Schlegel as board chair. “Mark’s energy and passion for this industry has clearly helped improve this association and helped set it up for a strong future,” said MAA Executive Director Doug Needham. “His leadership set a standard for all future chairs as the industry shifts into an exciting future ahead.”
