After a decade of unprecedented expansion in ready mixed and aggregate production, cement distribution and mixer truck manufacturing, SRM Concrete has entered the plant control and fleet dispatch software arena with the acquisition of Jonel Engineering.
With hardware and information technology solutions suiting ready mixed, precast and concrete masonry producers, the Fullerton, Calif., business will continue to operate independently under the Jonel brand with Mike Lawson, grandson of founder John Lawson, continuing as president.
“We’re excited for what the acquisition of Jonel means for our company, our customers, and the industry as a whole,” said SRM Concrete CEO Jeff Hollingshead. “They have built a great family business, and we look forward to having their team join us as a part of SRM Concrete. We’re here to give Jonel Engineering the tools and resources to develop and compete in the construction materials software space.”
The transaction is the second in the past year involving an IT hardware and software provider with sizable North American concrete user base, following Command Alkon’s mid-2024 acquisition of Marcotte Systems.
