H&K Group Ships More Than 1 Million Tons of Aggregate by Rail

H&K Group Inc. has shipped more than 1 million tons of aggregate from its Birdsboro Quarry facility in Berks County, Pa., to its Dagsboro Stone Depot facility in Sussex County, Del.

This is the second time in H&K’s history where 1 million tons of aggregate had been shipped to Dagsboro Stone Depot, illustrating what a considerable feat this achievement is, the company stated.

H&K plans to exceed that number in the coming production season. “We would love to thank all those at H&K, whether on the ground, in machines or behind the scenes that made this happen. It was truly a team effort,” the company said.

The company thanked its partners who each played a huge role in assisting with the accomplishment:

  • Norfolk Southern Corp. and Delmarva Central Railroad for their commitment to increasing service levels and facilitating the shipment of more carloads.
  • GATX Corp. for providing it with the high-quality, large-capacity, 115-ton open top hoppers that helped meet shipping goals.
  • First Response Rail Service for maintaining its rail fleet throughout the year. Their expertise and reliability has been instrumental in ensuring that H&K’s rail assets are in the best shape possible. This allowed the company to focus on operations without worrying about downtime or any unexpected issues.
