H&K Group Named to Newsweek’s list of Greatest Workplaces for Parents & Families

H&K Group Inc. was named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Parents & Families 2024.

H&K is one of 18 Pennsylvania-based mid-sized companies (1,000-4,999 employees) to be included in Newsweek’s list, which ranks companies across all 50 states. Notably, H&K is the only heavy civil contracting and construction materials company from Pennsylvania to make the list.

Nationwide, a total of 548 mid-sized companies made this market research list. Newsweek also ranked large-size (5,000+ employees) and small-size (500-999 employees) companies as well. This is Newsweek’s second annual ranking of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Parents & Families, and for 2024, 1,000 companies made the overall list.

Newsweek based their data on input from more than 113,00 working parents, who provided over 693,000 company reviews nationwide. Newsweek utilized a search engine for collecting private company data, provided by Plant-A Insights Group, which documented key indicators relating to how parents feel about their workplace – including working environment, compensation and benefits, and work-life balance.

H&K also noted that Pottsville Quarry & Asphalt, a partnership between H&K Group, Inc. and the Rich Family of Companies, in late summer hosted a tour of the quarry and asphalt plant for members of the Pennsylvania Asphalt Pavement Association (PAPA).

Pottsville Quarry & Asphalt was one of two stops between job sites and asphalt plants. To commemorate PAPA’s visit and thank our valued employees, customers and vendors for their hard work and patronage, all were treated to delicious hot dogs, cheeseburgers and cold drinks courtesy of Pottsville Quarry & Asphalt. “Grill Masters Sam (H&K DOT) and Tony (H&K PR) cooked, while Dave and Jenn from the Materials Division wrapped and distributed the food,” the company noted.

H&K Group, Inc. provides heavy civil contracting and construction services, construction and building materials, and associated ancillary services through 80 operations in three states including eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
