In an industry that continues to witness more and more technology implementation, producers are continuously looking for ways to innovate in surface mining and asphalt paving.

“It comes as no surprise that our Information Technology (IT) Department plays an integral role in seeing that vision fulfilled. One member in particular who has worked behind the scenes to ensure seamless day-to-day tech support is Walker Laury,” the company stated.

In 2017, Walker began his career with Memphis Stone & Gravel, a Granite Company. Starting as an intern within the IT department, Walker continued to pursue his education while learning the ropes of the organization.

In 2018, Walker graduated from the University of Memphis with a bachelor’s degree in management information systems and later transitioned to the role of IT Support Specialist where his duties included help desk continuity, technology asset management for facilities, process improvements and more.

In his new role, Walker will be responsible for overseeing the technology infrastructure of Memphis Stone & Gravel and sister company Lehman-Roberts.

This includes managing members of the IT team, implementing and maintaining technology systems, ensuring data security, and developing IT procedures. Walker and his team will also continue to collaborate with other departments to understand their technology needs and provide solutions.

David Middleton, senior director of strategy and technology has worked closely with Walker since the beginning. He shared, “Since joining our team, Walker has played a pivotal role in delivering IT support and ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our IT infrastructure.”

He went on to add, “As Walker assumes the position of IT Manager, he will oversee all IT-related operations. I am enthusiastic about his ongoing growth and leadership within the department.”
