California Cash Infusion

Dec. 21, 2022 – According to the California Construction and Industrial Materials Association (CalCIMA), the California Transportation Commission approved about $1.9 billion in funds for roads, bridges, bikeways and walkways. The funds will be used to construct 93 bikeways and pathways with a focus on connecting communities, schools and parks in disadvantaged areas, as well numerous road and bridge improvements throughout the state focused on safety and traffic congestion. Wondering what roads and bridges Caltrans will be repairing or rehabilitating next? What will their needs be for aggregates, concrete and asphalt? Well, Caltrans has two sources to help you. One is the 24-Month Advertise Look Ahead, which is found on their Contractor’s Corner website. This series of spreadsheets was recently improved to better report the dates, costs, and material quantities needed by district and county for a two-year period. It is updated daily. The other is the 10-Year State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP). This list shows every project that Caltrans has programmed and planned up to the year 2031. It currently lists more than 2,000 projects, is interactive and updated every quarter.
