A Banner Year

It was certainly a banner year for Rock Products. Looking back, 2022 was highlighted by advertising growth, new partnerships and strategic expansion of media offerings.

At this year’s AGG1 show, we announced a partnership with Burgex Inc., the Utah-based consulting and data-analysis company. This partnership resulted in an entirely reimagined version of Rock Products’ Aggregates Atlas, which along with Burgex’s new Mineralocity Aggregates Platform, now provides the aggregates industry with dynamic, forward-looking tools for decision-making.

Rock Products continued its strong support of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association by sponsoring the Young Leaders Luncheon at AGG1 and the Mark S. Walsh Award at the Young Leaders Annual Meeting; as well as promoting the association’s Manufacturers and Services Division with a special section in our yearly Aggregates Almanac.

Our Cement Americas supplement was re-invented as a stand-alone bimonthly magazine, and its name was changed to Cement Products. Now, as a sister publication to Rock Products, the magazine is the only publication reporting on cementitious materials suppliers specifically in North America, with additional coverage of markets in Latin America.

Along with the launch of Cement Products, we announced the 2023 International Cement Seminar & Exhibition, to be held Nov. 14-15, 2023, at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta. The International Cement Seminar & Exhibition will be produced by Cement Products and Rock Products, along with our sister publication Concrete Products.

SEMCO Publishing – parent company of Rock Products, Cement Products, and Concrete Products –formed Women in Aggregates, a group dedicated to supporting women working in the aggregates industry. The initiative follows the efforts of similar groups such as Women in Mining, National Association of Women in Construction and Women of Asphalt. The Mission Statement of the group is, “To create a supportive space for women that fosters leadership growth, networking opportunities and advocacy of the aggregate industry.” Those interested in the new organization can go to womeninaggregates.com to join the mailing list and stay apprised of future developments, meetings, events – including a cocktail reception at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2023 – and other communications from the group.

Stay tuned for more growth initiatives to be launched in 2023.
