NSSGA’s Johnson Goes to Bat for Bhatt

President Joe Biden’s pick to lead the agency on highway policy will be considered by The Environment and Public Works Committee. Shailen Bhatt has been nominated for the top post at the Federal Highway Administration. Favorable backing from the panel would advance Bhatt’s nomination to the floor of the chamber during the post-election lame duck session.

The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association’s President and CEO Michael Johnson issued the following statement supporting Bhatt’s nomination. NSSGA previously shared a letter of support with the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works ahead of their vote.

“The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is currently faced with tackling the large task of implementing the bipartisan infrastructure law,” Johnson Stated. “Therefore, it is critical for FHWA to have a knowledgeable and qualified leader confirmed. Bhatt’s decades of experience and career work to advance infrastructure development make him the ideal pick. NSSGA is proud to serve as an industry partner with FHWA. We will work with FHWA to ensure that IIJA implementation continues correctly and that challenges are efficiently addressed. We look forward to working with Bhatt as administrator and urge the Senate to quickly move this nomination forward for the betterment of our nation’s highways and infrastructure development.”
