California Releases 2019 Mineral Production Data

July 27, 2022 – According to the California Construction and Industrial Materials Association (CalCIMA), the California Non-Fuel Mineral Production 2019 report by the California Geological Survey shows that 111 million short tons of sand and gravel were produced in California in 2019, roughly comparable to the average since 2015. The report also says another 18 million short tons of other construction materials (rock, stone, pumice, and the like) were produced in 2019; again, comparable to preceding years. Limestone production, for cement and specialty uses, was 19 million short tons in 2019, which was similar to 2018, but a lot less than 2017. The report also includes figures for industrial sand, clay, gypsum, and metals. The data is not comparable to data from the U.S. Geological Survey.
