NRMCA Update

April 13, 2022 – The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) estimated ready mixed concrete produced in January 2022 at 24.4 million cu. yds., 1% lower than that in January 2021. Ready mixed concrete production is estimated from cement shipments reported by the U.S. Geological Survey.

NRMCA also noted that The House of Representatives last week passed the bipartisan Resilient AMERICA Act, legislation to promote resilient construction, predisaster mitigation, and incentives for adoption and enforcement of stronger building codes. NRMCA applauded the House passage of this legislation and urged the Senate to take up and pass this important bill. The legislation builds on NRMCA’s efforts to advance resilient construction through grants and pilot programs at FEMA.

NRMCA joined the members of the BuildStrong Coalition in sending a letter to Congress in support of the Resilient AMERICA Act. The NRMCA Government Affairs team engaged with legislation sponsors, communicating NRMCA’s support in the days leading to the vote on the House floor. The Resilient AMERICA Act was drafted and introduced by ready mixed concrete champions, including House Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.), Ranking Member Sam Graves (R-Mo.) and Dan Webster (R-Fla.)
