Carmeuse Americas Acquires Schlegel Sand and Gravel

Carmeuse Americas has acquired 100% of the equity of Schlegel Sand and Gravel from Mark and Matt Schlegel. Schlegel Sand and Gravel, located in Lansing, Mich., services the Michigan construction market.

Yves Willems, president and CEO of Carmeuse, stated, “By acquiring Schlegel Sand and Gravel, Carmeuse expands its geographical reach within the state of Michigan. In addition, the high-quality products sold by Schlegel Sand and Gravel complement the construction aggregates sold from our quarries on the Great Lakes.”

Jack Fahler, COO of Carmeuse, emphasized that, “Acquiring Schlegel Sand and Gravel advances our strategy to grow the construction business. Schlegel Sand and Gravel is a well-managed company with a strong customer base.”

Mark Schlegel stated, “We are pleased to close this transaction with Carmeuse. It is a good deal for both parties.”

Founded in 1860, Carmeuse is a manufacturer of lime, limestone and mineral-based products used in a variety of industrial, construction, and soil improvement applications. Schlegel Sand and Gravel has distinguished itself as a respected partner with high-quality aggregates and a loyal customer base, the company stated.
