Dec. 2, 2021 – Our friend Jason Christopher Willett, commodity specialist, National Minerals Information Center, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has determined that an estimated 731 million metric tons (Mt) of total construction aggregates was produced and shipped for consumption in the United States in the third quarter of 2021, an increase of 4% compared with that in the third quarter of 2020. This follows a second-quarter in which an estimated 694 Mt of total construction aggregates was produced and shipped for consumption in the United States, an increase of 7% compared with that of the second quarter of 2020; and a first-quarter total of 464 Mt, a slight increase compared with that of the same period in 2020. Aggregates production has been rising all year. And it figures to rise even more in the future thanks to the infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
