Chaney Expands Virginia Holdings With Acquisition

Aggregates, ready-mix, custom blends and construction-supplies provider Chaney Enterprises will acquire three Branscome ready-mix concrete plant’s locations in the lower Chesapeake and Virginia Eastern Shore region: Chesapeake (Dominion Blvd. in Chesapeake, Va.), Oak Hall (Tasley, Va.) and Nassawadox (Exmore, Va.)

The assets acquired also include the operations of the Chesapeake Barge Terminal (also known as the Branscome Dominion Yard) that will be the gateway for barging construction materials in high demand, particularly C-33 sand, into the Chesapeake/Virginia Beach region.

This will be the third terminal added to Chaney Enterprises transportation hubs in addition to the Sussex Barge Terminal in Seaford, Del., and Waldorf Rail Terminal in Waldorf, Md.

“We are extremely happy to officially join the Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Virginia Shore markets. Bringing excellent products and services to this market is a major milestone for our family-owned business that is getting ready to celebrate our 60th year in operation in January 2022. We would like to thank our phenomenal team for their efforts to guide, build and grow Chaney Enterprises with their passion and commitment,” said Francis “Hall” Chaney III, chief executive officer for Chaney Enterprises.

This will be Chaney Enterprises’ sixth expansion in Virginia with its most recent announcement of its first affiliate company, Felton Brothers, a ready-mix concrete operation out of Clarksville, Va., announced last month, plus a recent acquisition in Richmond, Va., of GreenRock Materials’ ready-mix concrete plants and sand and gravel operations in October 2020.
