GCAA Testifies at Georgia State Capitol

The Georgia Construction Aggregate Association (GCAA), along with its partners, the Georgia Highway Contractors Association and the Georgia Ready Mix Concrete Association, gave testimony before the Georgia Freight and Logistics Commission on Oct. 14 at the Georgia State Capitol.

Jeff Wansley, GCAA executive director, gave a briefing on the aggregates industry in Georgia citing statistics on locations, producer information and critical needs of the industry. The commission is led by Georgia State House Transportation Committee Chairman Kevin Tanner and Georgia State Senate Transportation Chairman Brandon Beach. 

The goal of the commission is to review needs for funding for rail and logistics infrastructure projects in the state. Wansley pointed out the important role that the aggregates industry plays in supplying product for these types of projects.

  • National Trends / Recommendations – Driver Shortage (Rebecca Brewster, American Transportation Research Institute).
  • Freight and Logistics Workforce/State of Play (Sandy Lake, Center of Innovation for Logistics).
  • Freight and Logistics Workforce Training (Greg Dozier, Technical College System of Georgia).
  • Infrastructure Construction Workforce (Dave Moellering, Georgia Highway Contractors Association; Jeff Wansley, GCAA; and Jimmy Cotty, Georgia Ready Mix Concrete Association).
