Green Rock Acquires Couch Aggregates

Couch Aggregates, Birmingham, Ala., has been acquired by Birmingham-based Green Rock LLC.

Couch reported that it has a rich heritage dating back to its origin in 1908. Geographically, Couch said it was a perfect fit with its operations strategically located in central and south Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. Its operations complemented Green Rock’s other core businesses. “Like Green Rock, Couch is a capable company with strong roots in the local community. Couch has a long legacy and a prosperous past largely due to strong customer relationships and experienced people with close ties to the communities in which Couch serves,” the company stated.

The acquisition includes five operating plants as well as four distribution yards located throughout Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. The company has operations in Montgomery, Jackson, Bellwood, Orange Beach, and Dothan, Ala., as well as operations in Panama City and Walton County, Fla., according to the company’s website.

“We look forward to expanding our footprint in the construction aggregates industry by partnering with Steve Shaw and continuing the operations under the well-respected Couch name,” said Green Rock CEO Clayton Mobley. “The outstanding employees and operations of Couch will complement our existing holdings, and will expand our operations and service areas. The opportunity to partner with Steve Shaw made this an opportunity that we could not pass up.”

Shaw will serve as the chief executive officer of Couch, and Trey Dawkins will serve as chief operations officer.

“I look forward to working with the Green Rock team to find ways to better serve our customers and stakeholders,” Shaw said. “I am delighted that they will be an intricate part of Couch’s future.”
