On the heels of the EPA announcement of its final Water rule, National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) member Alan Parks, Memphis Stone & Gravel Co., had an op-ed published in Bloomberg Environment on the impact of the new Navigable Waters Protection Rule: Definition of “Waters of the United States” (WOTUS).

Parks has been among the NSSGA members engaged in NSSGA’s advocacy on the WOTUS rule for several years. NSSGA has strongly pressed against the flaws and pitfalls within the old rule, while pushing for many of the improvements that were ultimately included in the Water Rule announced by EPA.

“Advocacy takes on many forms, and our advocacy on the WOTUS rule is a good example of member engagement and involvement to address problems and promote solutions in public policy,” NSSGA stated. “Our advocacy is most powerful when our staff and our members are engaged and in coordination in our efforts to affect public policy outcomes.”

Congratulations Alan, you are a Rock Star!
