Chaney Golf Tournament Held at Reclaimed Quarry Site

Maryland-based construction-materials producer Chaney Enterprises raised more than $98,000 for the American Cancer Society as well as substance abuse and cancer research at its 20th Annual Babe & Dick Chaney Memorial Golf Tournament.

The sold-out tournament – which included dinner and an award ceremony – took place at Renditions Golf Course in Davidsonville, Md. Chaney once owned a quarry operation on the land where the award-winning 18-hole golf course now exists.

The reclaiming process ensured adequate land stability, drainage, vegetative cover and esthetics. Other mining sites have been reclaimed as farmland, green spaces, housing developments and recreational facilities.

“Engraved in our work at Chaney is a devotion to giving back and a philosophy of ‘complete engagement in our community,’” said Francis “Hall” Chaney III, president of Chaney Enterprises. “Our annual tournament has been bringing people together and raising funds for local nonprofits for 20 years now, and we could not be prouder of the positive outcomes the community has experienced. Our employees and team thrive when they participate in and with the community. We believe strongly that it is our responsibility to be involved and committed to the communities we serve.”

Sponsors of the 20th Annual Babe & Dick Memorial Golf Tournament included Aggregate Industries, Alban Tractor Co. Inc., Allied Environmental Services, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., Bradley Co., Branch Banking and Trust, Caruso Homes, Community Bank of the Chesapeake, Dewberry, Hensel Phelps, Howard Bank, Lennar, Luck Stone Corp., P.P.C. Lubricants, Patuxent Materials Inc., and PNC Bank.

The Chaney Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Chaney Enterprises, seeks to make a concrete contribution to positively affect the well-bring of the communities it serves by investing human and financial resources.
