The H&K Group Family of Companies, spanning both the heavy civil contracting and materials segments of their business platform, held a “remarkably successful, multi-divisional job fair” on Saturday, June 1, according to the company. The company’s Landis C. Deck & Sons Site Contractors facility, located in Bernville, Pa., served as host of the job fair.
In-depth interviews were conducted by hiring managers in order to fill numerous full-time positions in both the trades and skilled/technical employment levels. In attendance to conduct same-day interviews were managers from many of H&K’s heavy civil contracting, construction materials and materials/freight transport affiliates. Executive management was also in attendance to greet prospective candidates and to guide individuals to H&K’s various on-site skills testing areas and interview locations, answer questions and experience the comprehensive success of the hiring event firsthand.
The H&K Group reported that 68 applicants attended the job fair and hiring managers from six different H&K locations filled 20 key positions. Crucial positions were filled with proficient candidates in the following areas: general laborers, operators, maintenance technicians, drivers and water truck operators.
“This was an exceedingly successful day for our company,” H&K’s Chief Operating Officer James T. “Jim” Haines, commented. “When we conceived this job fair, we were confident that there would be great interest in joining the H&K team, based on our record amount of backlog for 2019. Even with those high hopes, we still did not expect the fantastic turnout and exceptional quality of the applicants that we saw here today. Each candidate came in with tremendous enthusiasm; If their experience and qualifications match the excitement each of them brought today, then we anticipate that this hiring event will play an important role in completing the robust project backlog that lies ahead.”
