• Athabasca Minerals Inc. entered into a Letter of Intent with a property owner in the town of Mayerthorpe, Alberta, Canada, for the Firebag Frac Sand Project storage and distribution hub.

• OmniTRAX Energy Solutions held an event to showcase the reopening of three silos at its facility in Cotulla, Texas. Following more than $1 million of upgrades that began earlier this year, the silos can now hold more than 24,000 tons of frac sand combined.

• A contractor’s bulldozer slid into a pond at the Hi-Crush mine in Whitehall, Wis., leading to an hours-long effort to rescue the operator from a 15-ft.-deep pond. Rescuers freed the driver after emptying an estimated 10 million gal. of water from the pond into a Trempealeau River tributary. Wisconsin officials were testing for environmental and health hazards after the accident, according to the Leader-Telegram.
