On March 1, Baldor Electric Co. changed its name to ABB.

“It is a big change for us because a name is valuable. You make a name for yourself and protect your good name. It represents your identity and reputation,” the company said. “A name also evokes pride and a sense of belonging. If you’ve ever changed your name, say through adoption or marriage, it means you are becoming part of something bigger, a new family. Your old family does not go away but adds another branch to your expanding family tree.”

Baldor Electric Co. became a member of the ABB Group seven years ago, but now has fully joined the larger ABB family. Its strength, expertise and innovation compete on a global stage.

“We are part of ABB’s more than $11 billion investment in the United States making products in U.S. plants with U.S. employees for U.S. customers,” the company said. “We will continue to manufacture and sell the Baldor-Reliance motors, and Dodge bearings and power transmission you trust and prefer.”

ABB is a pioneering technology leader.

“The red letters of ABB represent the energy that sparks invention. It is building on its strong heritage by actively writing the new age of digitalization. This is our new name; the strength of an iconic brand: ABB,” the company concluded.
