Let’s Get It Right

RR031618 USGS

March 16, 2018 – This just in from USGS. The envelope, please. The estimated total output of construction aggregates produced for consumption in 2017 was 2.26 billion metric tons, about the same as that in 2016. In its Mineral Commodity Summaries issued late last year, USGS estimated that in 2017, 1.33 billion tons of crushed stone and 890 million tons of construction sand and gravel – 2.22 billion metric tons – would be produced. Unfortunately that was reported as fact by some industry media entities. At least there’s some good news: actual production from last year reported this year was higher than reported last year before last year was over. Did you catch all that?
