The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association will present the 2018 State Executive of the Year award to Todd Ohlheiser, executive director of the Colorado Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (CSSGA).

Ohlheiser has been executive director for the CSSGA, as well as the Colorado Ready Mixed Concrete Association (CRMCA) since 2013. Under his leadership, both associations are focused on positively impacting legislative, regulatory and safety-related issues within the aggregates and concrete production sectors through educational outreach, lobbying efforts and quality improvement programs, including the recently released Mine Safety Institute which promotes safety training through an interactive online platform. Before joining CSSGA, Ohlheiser worked in the construction, aggregates and concrete industries, managing businesses and operations in both U.S. and Canada.

“Todd has been a hard-working advocate for Colorado operations and our entire industry for many years. He understands the needs of quarries and concrete producers and deftly promotes policies and legislation that benefits businesses and communities in Colorado and throughout the country,” said Michael W. Johnson, NSSGA president and CEO.

Ohlheiser helped to oppose MSHA’s proposed Workplace Exams Rule in 2016 by telling the agency about the real-world implications of the rule. He has also worked to educate Colorado operations on the serious effects to permitting that would have come about from the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) 2015 Waters of the United States rule. Both the EPA and MSHA proposals currently are being revised.

Todd holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Regis University in Denver, and an associate degree in mechanical engineering from the North Dakota State College of Science. He is currently earning a master’s degree in organizational leadership at Colorado State University Global Campus and expected to graduate in June 2018.

Congratulations Todd, you are a Rock Star!
