NSSGA Holds Audio Town Meeting

February 8, 2017 – The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) has a message for aggregates producers. This is no time to relax and rest on your laurels. There is a new administration in Washington, D.C., and you need to get them on your side. Reach out and build relationships with state and national representatives, and members of the new administration, if possible. NSSGA also covered a wide range of other topics at an audio town hall meeting about the impact of the Trump administration on the aggregates industry. Included were updates on MSHA, EPA, transportation funding, regulatory rollback and much more. NSSGA President Michael Johnson talked at length about pushing to get a new MSHA administrator from the metal/nonmetal side, as opposed to someone from the coal side. In addition, the association tried to temper enthusiasm about the Trump administration’s Trillion Dollar Promise on infrastructure funding. That amount, which is projected over a 10-year period, will come, if it does, from a complicated combination of private investment and public funds, which could be an ongoing and time-consuming proposition.
