Carmeuse Lime and Stone recently donated 4,000 tons of limestone to Wald Park, Inc., a nonprofit in Maysville, Ky., that is renovating a park into a modern, state-of-the-art sports complex for the surrounding community.
The donated limestone will be used for the parking lot and walkways at Wald Park, which plans to soon be the site of two new baseball fields, as well as a softball field and soccer field. Plans also include the addition of a new pavilion complex that will provide concessions, bathroom, changing rooms and a viewing/announcing area.
Groundbreaking on the park project took place in August 2016 after two years of planning and fundraising. Its mission is to establish, operate and maintain a first-class multi-sport complex where Maysville youth and surrounding communities can compete in baseball, softball and soccer.
