The Irving Materials Group of Companies (IMI) took part in the Road Construction Awareness Ride in Indianapolis. The ride was organized by Indianapolis-based Rieth-Riely construction to raise awareness of workers in cone zones.
In May, two Rieth-Riley workers were killed in a construction zone on I-69. The ride was in honor of the two workers – Coty DeMoss and Kenneth Duerson Jr.
The event drew hundreds of contractors and construction workers on motorcycles and in classic cars, plus many other trucks and construction zone pieces of equipment. IMI mixer driver Tony Taylor drove his Phoenix mixer in the ride. E&B Paving pulled a flatbed with an asphalt paving machine.
The parade started at the Harley Davision dealership on the north side of Indianapolis and ended in Noblesville, Ind..
“Safety is of utmost concern on any job site, but particularly on road construction,” stated Bob Haldrup, IMI North president. “We are proud to be represented and standing with our customers in an event that raises the awareness of safety in work zones.”
The event raised funds which will go toward purchasing billboards, advertisements and providing support for those families who lost a loved one in a work-related accident.
