Badger Opens Transload Facility in Ohio

Rayland, Ohio, a village located 50 miles southwest of Pittsburgh and situated along the Ohio River, is home to the newest transload facility for Badger Mining Corporation (BMC), a family-owned, values-driven supplier of Premium Northern-White industrial raw and coated silica sand.

For users of industrial silica sand in the region, this unit train-capable site on the Wheeling & Lake Eric (WE) Railroad has many benefits, from being able to handle jobs with reduced lead time to its ability to manage large-sized projects.

“With mining properties on both the CN and WSOR, we are uniquely situated to supply both the Utica region and the industrial area around Rayland with the great products our customers have come to expect from Badger Mining,” said Adam Katz, vice president of sales and marketing. “With a facility this size, we can operate a streamlined rail-to-truck operation, eliminating any additional handling that can result in contamination, degradation and shrinkage.”

The new facility joins Badger Mining’s 28 existing transload locations throughout the United States and Canada. Material is already on-site.
