Francis Guess Award 72

At a special luncheon held on May 24 at the Nashville Music City Center, Ben R. Rechter, member of Rogers Group’s (RGI) board of directors and grandson to RGI-founder Ralph Rogers, was bestowed with the inaugural Francis S. Guess Bridge to Equality Award from the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

The Francis S. Guess Bridge to Equality Award honors the memory of civil rights trailblazer and civic leader Francis S. Guess and is awarded to those who spur innovation that leads to equality.

Rechter has devoted his civic life to helping others attain equality and realize the American Dream. His leadership in arts, education and philanthropy has helped build bridges and break down walls in Nashville and Middle Tennessee.

Rechter has been heavily involved in community organizations since moving to Nashville in 1972. Among the many organizations he has served over the years: Metro Nashville Public Education Foundation, Fisk University, Nashville Symphony Association, United Way of Middle Tennessee, the Society of International Business Fellows and the Urban League of Middle Tennessee. Additionally, he is on the board of directors for the National Museum of African American Music, an emeritus board member of Nashville Public Television and a trustee with the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
