Graymont to Reorganize Pacific Northwest Operations

Following the loss of a key customer in British Columbia, Canada, Graymont announced it will reorganize its operations in the Pacific Northwest.

The Tacoma plant will be restructured, and the precipitated calcium carbonate and quicklime processes will be shut down. The future site of the remaining hydrate and pulverized limestone operations will also be reviewed by the company.

The company said that, “some of the thirty employees at the plant will be laid off.”

Graymont said it remains committed to reliably serving its customers in the Pacific Northwest, in line with its objective to be the supplier and partner of choice in the lime and limestone industry. Graymont will supply the market with quicklime from its other facilities in the region.

Graymont has a significant presence in the Pacific Northwest. It serves major markets throughout the United States and Canada, and recently extended its reach into the Asia-Pacific region. Graymont also has a significant investment in Grupo Calidra, the largest lime producer in Mexico.
