NOTD jerrygeraghty 180The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) announced that Jerry Geraghty, president and CEO of Rogers Group Inc., will receive the Barry K. Wendt Memorial Commitment Award for his lifetime of service and leadership to the aggregates industry.

The award is the highest honor NSSGA bestows, as it recognizes an individual who exemplifies commitment to family, career and the aggregates industry and made possible by the support of the NSSGA Manufacturers and Services (M&S) Division.

“We are honored to recognize Jerry with this award for his business success, dedication to family and his decades of service to the aggregates industry,” said Michael W. Johnson, NSSGA president and CEO. “He has shown incredible commitment to excellence in both the aggregates industry and toward making this world a better place.”

Geraghty has been actively involved in the industry his entire career, which began on the supplier side with a 28-year span at Ingersoll-Rand where be eventually became president of Construction Equipment Group. This was followed by 14-year career on the producer side of the industry with Rogers Group Inc. He has continuously sought to improve safety through his time at Rogers Group, the largest privately held aggregates producer in the country. His constant focus on high safety standards earned Rogers Group a 2012 NSSGA Sterling Safety Award for Large companies.

Geraghty has been an industry leader, serving as a member of the board of directors for NSSGA, the American Road and Transportation Builders Association and the Construction Industry Manufacturers Association. He also served as first co-chair of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers in 2002 and chaired NSSGA’s board of directors in 2009.

In addition to his industry service, he has been an advocate of corporate social responsibility and community service. He currently volunteers in leadership roles with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee, Teach for America and the United Way of Metropolitan Nashville. During a 1,000-year flood in May 2010, Geraghty worked with United Way leadership to create Family Resource Centers in the hardest hit areas of the city so families had a single resource to seek help in recovering from the devastation.

The Wendt Memorial Commitment Award will be presented at NSSGA’s Annual Convention and AGG1 Academy & Expo in Nashville, March 20-24. It was established in memory of Barry K. Wendt, a longtime active association member who devoted his energy to advancing industry causes and is remembered for his dedication, service to the M&S Division, hard work and personal integrity.
