Country Stars Vassar, Rose to Perform at NSSGA Convention

Two stars of country music will join the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) for its annual convention, being held in conjunction with the AGG1 Academy and Expo in Nashville, Tenn.

NSSGA’s Opening Celebration, open to any attendee, will feature award-winning country artists Phil Vassar and Maggie Rose.

“We are excited to have country legends and artists join us in the Music City, and know that our members, exhibitors and attendees will enjoy hearing their stories and songs as an exciting start to what we expect will be an exciting week,” said Pamala Bouchard, NSSGA vice president of membership and meetings.

Phil Vassar is one of country music’s top singers and songwriters. His career spans eight albums, two Songwriter of the Year trophies from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers and countless hits as a singer and songwriter. As a singer and songwriter, Vassar’s music has reached the Top 5 of Billboard country music charts seven times with songs like “Carlene,” “Last Day of My Life” and “American Child” and topped the charts with “In A Real Love” and the perennial favorite “Just Another Day in Paradise.” Known as one of Nashville’s top tunesmiths, his songs other artists have taken to #1 include “My Next Thirty Years” by Tim McGraw, “She’s Right On The Money” by Alan Jackson and Jo Dee Messina’s “Bye, Bye” and “I’m Alright.” David Nail had a hit with Phil’s “The Sound of a Million Dreams,” which Billboard named the #1 song in their Top 10 Country Songs of 2012.

Opening for Vassar will be Emmy award-winning singer, songwriter and producer Maggie Rose. A native of Maryland and Washington, D.C., she moved to Nashville at 19 years old. Shortly thereafter, she released her debut album “Cut to Impress” in 2013 which yielded two singles— that each made Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. The “astute, sturdy heartbreaker,” according to the New York Times, writes songs the Washington Post calls “effervescent” and “exceptionally catchy” and as a live performer Rose embodies “the kind of sassy, playful attitude that makes her performances stand out in a crowd,” according to AllMusic. Rose is working on a new album set to come out this year.
